Memphis Beat centers on Dwight Hendricks, a quirky Memphis police detective with an intimate connection to the city, a passion for blues music and a close relationship with his mother.
"Memphis Beat" (formerly called "Delta Blues") stars Jason Lee ("My Name Is Earl") as a Memphis cop and Elvis fan who has a deep connection to his hometown. The series also features Alfre Woodard as his boss, Sam Hennings as his partner and DJ Qualls ("Road Trip") as a young officer who looks up to Lee's character.
Dwight goes sleuthing when three gun-toting thieves rob a party boat, but there are ripple effects when the case involves one of Dwight's oldest friends. Fallout from the investigation allows Dwight to reconnect with an ex-flame and perform music with an old bandmate.
Paula calls on Dwight to help one of his oldest friends, who has been arrested in a case involving three gunmen who robbed a party boat. Dwight’s investigation brings him face to face with an old flame and gives him a chance to perform with one of his old band members from his high school days. When an iconic Memphis movie theater mysteriously burns down, Rice takes the case to smoke out the culprit. Meanwhile, with his mother in tow, Dwight hits the road to New Orleans to speak to his father's killer, hoping any insight will prove that his father was never a dirty cop.
When the Landmark Movie Theater, a beloved Memphis attraction, mysteriously burns down, Rice decides to sharpen her detective skills by working the case under Whitehead. Meanwhile, Dwight and Paula drive to New Orleans to talk to the man who shot Dwight's father. Dwight is determined to put to rest his suspicions that his father may have been a dirty cop.
